Representative Jim Moran, Democrat – Virginia, campaign caught in scheme to stuff ballot box.
Screaming at the top of their lungs every time ANY move is made to make sure that only living, eligible voters are allowed into the polls, Democrats brush aside claims that there is ANY voter fraud in our great country. Ignoring proof of the voting dead, multiple folks voting and voting by scores of those not in the country legally they claim that there is no “proof” that voter fraud is real, serious and certainly not carried out by any organized plan. Obviously because of actions of the Democrats there are almost no checks on what a voter has to do to show that they are in fact the voter making it difficult if not impossible to “prove” voter fraud.
That all changed today when the son of Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va. – who serves as the field director for his father’s campaign – has been caught on video advising an undercover reporter how to fraudulently cast ballots in the name of registered voters by forging utility bills and relying on the assistance of Democrat lawyers.
Moran initially thinks the reporter’s intent is to offer the registered voters a ride to the polling place on Election Day to ensure they cast their ballots. But the reporter states he and his friend actually want to vote in the name of the Virginia residents. The conversation goes like this:
Reporter: There are 100 people who don’t vote. He’s looking for two guys to help him with. …
Patrick Moran: Crank it out?
Reporter: Yes. He’s got a van and he and me were going to go around. …
Patrick Moran: Rally these people up and get them to the polls.
Reporter: Well, he was actually going to get in a van and vote for them.
Patrick Moran: Ohhhh
Reporter: I know, but –
Reporter: It’s scary, but I’m not. … I don’t want to lose, and I’m frightened.
Patrick Moran: Yeah.
As reported in WND Politics:
Moran suggests creating fake utility bills to serve as voter ID. But he warns that there will be “a lot of voter protection” at the polling places to enforce the identification laws.
“So, if they just have the utility bill or bank statement – bank statement would obviously be tough … but faking a utility bill would be easy enough,” Moran says.
The reporter asks: “How would you do that?”
“I mean, I would just find, I don’t know,” Moran replies. “I guess. …”
“Microsoft Word and type it up,” offers the reporter.
“Yeah, something like that,” says Moran.
Moran emphasizes that the poll workers will be “trained up” on the new law to protect voters and “be cracking down.”
If there’s any trouble, he says, an Obama for America lawyer, or another Democrat lawyer, will be on hand to provide help, he said.
“You’ll have somebody in house, that if they feel that what you have is legitimate, they’ll argue for you,” Moran says.
But he warns the reporter that the utility bill has “got to look good.”
I am sure that we are going to hear claims that this is an “isolated incident, or that the video was “taken out of context” (that would be a hard sell), or that this is just one guy off of the reservation – all of that is a lot of baloney. This happens everyday, everywhere in the country and has a very real impact on elections. Every time something like this happens it dilutes the meaning of your vote and mine. There is absolutely no VALID reason why you have to show ID to drive, to catch a fish, to get into an R rated movie BUT YOU DON’T HAVE TO SHOW ID TO VOTE. Let’s have this be the last time that folks cook up a scheme to throw an election here in the birthplace of democracy.
He should be arrested today ..!!!!!
Please stop calling it “voter fraud.” It is “election fraud.”
I encourage you and your readers to visit blackboxvoting.org, and, if you haven’t seen “Hacking Democracy” or “Murder, Spies and Voting Lies,” you can view them on YouTube free. Both are excellent documentaries well worth your time.
Thanks.
Please enlighten me on the difference between voter fraud and election fraud.
Voter fraud involves individual voters. Illegal immigrants voting or registered voters voting more than once are both examples of voter fraud.
Election fraud involves candidates and/or parties trying to illegally influence the outcome of an election. This kind of fraud can include ballot stuffing, manipulating results, voter suppression and disenfranchisement.
I hope there is legal action out of this one.
Legal action? For what? Nothing happened. You said it yourself. You RWers are so quick to jump when you are able to produce crap like this. Look around, there are 10X more examples of actual fraud commited by the GOP. You should be embarassed by this feeble attempt. How desperate!
before that Glenn and Helen are nice people whose deecncy has been undermined by their political views. It doesn’t help matters to have so many interviews with Republican ideologues such as John Fund and Jim Geraghty. This will just confirm and reinforce their already burdensome partisanship. When I say that their deecncy has been undermined by their political views, I particularly have in mind, in Glenn’s case, the way that he downplays the issue of torture. He keeps saying that he is against torture. But it is not enough to theoretically oppose torture, you also have to be against it when it actually happens. When people are tortured, it isn’t good enough to say, oh pshaw, that’s all exaggerated. Evidently Glenn cannot believe that the president he voted for condones torture, so instead he has played it down. E.g. Claudia Rosett went to Guantanamo and what she saw was all trim and proper, so therefore no one has been tortured there. The antidote to this, if basic deecncy still matters, is to interview someone who has actually been tortured on behalf of the Bush Administration. Even more so if it’s an innocent man. Even more so if the CIA sent him to Syria — how can the United States credibly oppose tyranny in Syria if it sends men there to be tortured? Someone like Maher Arar. I see that Arar is available for interviews. It would be a much better interview than a cozy friend like John Fund. And hey, if you (Glenn or Helen) really think that Maher Arar is a liar, just ask him. Try giving him a smack-down interview. I am confident that your basic deecncy will win you over.
I like how no one brings up the fact that strategic allied, headed by Nathan Sproul, has been caught in several states including mine, FL, engaging in voter fraud. No, let’s not mention them because they were HIRED by the RNC.
And notice how this video was basically an entrapment attempt. If a law enforcement officer did that to you it would be entrapment and not submissive in court. So why does this “reporter” get to ask leading questions and its “voter fraud”? What about that guy who was arrested last week for throwing voter registrations in the dumpster? ALSO working for the GOP.
You want to talk about voter fraud? Look no further than your aging, dying, lying, bigot party.
Entrapment? That would only apply to law enforcement activities. Have you have ever watched 60 Minutes or the show where they run ads seeking sex partners for minors? Those are good examples of investigative journalism – just as this one is. By the way, I would disagree with you about the entrapment part, this Congressional Aide suggested the fraud unprompted.
I do find it sad that when you, Jim, are presented with clear and unequivocal evidence of tampering you try to defend and change the subject rather than admitting to the problem. No personal responsibility here.
First off, personal responsibility doesn’t fall on me, falls on this guy, who resigned from the campaign.
And you STILL FAIL to address the other part of my comment, regarding Nathan Sproul and strategic allied consulting’s recent election fraud practices. Absolutely NO mention of that because you know the GOP is responsible by hiring this company after knowing they had fraudulent vote activity since 2004.
I like how you’re all against election fraud unless if its members of your own party. Then it’s ok.
Election fraud is abhorrent regardless of which party is undertaking the activity. Because this cuts to the heart of our democracy, I would love to see greatly enhanced penalties and more aggressive prosecution of BOTH parties when they are involved in these activities. These actions are an assault on the meaning of everyone’s vote.
I agree but I checked out your website and NOWHERE is there an article about Sproul, SAC, or GOP voter registration fraud. Bias much? I think so. Like I said, when its convenient for you you point it out. I’d like to see more gop voters stand up for ethical practices regarding voting and registration. Stand up to your own party and show them that their constituents will not stand for fraudulent activity….but you won’t. Because you want the black guy out at any and all costs, even if “democracy ” like you put it has to take a backseat in 2012.
First, I don’t edit responsive comments as long as they are on-point and not merely personal attacks. I appreciate your remarks and you ar always welcome here to state your point of view regardless of whether I agree with you or not. Second, thank you for the link, I am sure that anyone that wants to investigate other voter fraud allegations are encouraged to check out your provided link. Finally, while I do the best I can to keep this blog vibrant with original content, I do not have a staff like the NY Times and have to pick and choose my stories. Yes, this is a conservative blog, but I encourage you to come back anytime to hold us accountable if you believe that we are misleading or inaccurate in our reporting.
I don’t think you’re being misleading but you’re definitely cherry picking your stories. When you do a current events posting on voter fraud and don’t even mention fraud from your party that is currently under investigation, what is one supposed to think? That there is no conservative bias? I love how FNC always talks bad about the “mainstream media” but then refuses to follow up on real, valid stories that, although uncomfortable for the party, are still happening.
And in all of your responses to my comments, not once have you said anything to the effect “you’re right Jim, they is voter fraud happening within the GOP-hired strategic Allied consulting, and I am appalled and all republicans should speak out against it.” Nothing.
about much of the world. Remember that, folks, above all.But again, the focus seems ALL about Republicans in the US. Wait…people wouldn’t use deatbe over something as serious as torture as a political gambit to gain power in the upcoming elections, would they?(snicker).Seriously, Dr. Helen, you should interview some folks from, say, Human Rights Watch on torture around the world. They’ll say some nasty things about Americans, but they will also give some much-needed perspective to this argument.
Wonderful and timely topic! You will hear lots of sittac claiming that asking for an ID is racist, disenfranchising and so forth.Yet you cannot cash a check or buy booze or cigarettes without one. Get into an R-rated movie. Rent a car. Fly on an airplane. And so one.For good or for ill, the reason that some folks oppose IDs is that they want to promote voter fraud.Personally, I think voting should be difficult. That way, people who genuinely care will vote. But I am not in the majority on that issue I know.Sadly, there isn’t a chance of getting a requirement for an ID to vote. And even more sadly, any person or politician pushing an ID requirement will be called a racist and vilified.Again, very timely topic.
The Electoral College has no impact on voter fraud. It’s just an aatequntid way of allocating votes by state to elect the President instead of using the popular vote. The only argument might be that if there were a Direct Popular Election of the President then if you could generate thousands of fraudulent votes in one corrupt locale those votes would have more impact on the election than if there was the Electoral College to dilute their impact. One might wonder how many dead Democrats would still be voting every election in Chicago, for example.
The New York Times can give it some coverage, why can’t you?

Last time I voted in PA (2004) I made my selections on a big, ckluny, mechanical box that looked like a steroidal Robbie the Robot wearing an apron. No electronics. No chads to hang. Very hard to cheat. A big, cheap, pot-iron mechanical box with a curtain is pretty hard to fool so long as you’ve got observers from all sides watching the show and checking the numbers.Cheap, too.
I have no problems with reuiirqng identification on at least one condition. If the state and federal governments would issue free identification cards. I think most states ID cards cost $10 and up these days. I think because of the cost involved in getting ID cards for purposes of voting it amounts to a poll tax (no matter how small it may seem to some of you) which is illegal in this country.
And yes, in my original response you’ll see that I said “IF LEO did this it would be entrapment”. There is no “clear and unequivocal evidence of tampering” here. Where do you see him photoshopping/word a fake document?? He mentions it can be done, but does not purport to be an expert forger. He’s not filling out fake voter registrations like SAC did here in fl in the past weeks, or thrown out voter registrations like an SAC employee did last week. THAT is clear unequivocal evidence, staring you in the face, that you choose to ignore.

Entrapment.
you guys need to look up what that even means.
Virginia entrapment is an affirmative defense for when an official gets a person to do something that he would not ordinarily do (… and this is clearly something Patrick would ordinarily do),
so even if Patrick were set up by a cop, (which he wasn’t) one cannot say that he is not predisposed to doing the acts that he did in the video.
THIS is election fraud:
In the 2008 election, no less than:
767,023 provisional ballots were cast and not counted;
1,451,116 ballots were “spoiled,” not counted;
488,136 absentee ballots were mailed in, but not counted.
Add it up: in the last presidential election, no less than 2,706,275 ballots were cast—and never counted. I have not included a quarter million (251,936) provisional ballots counted only in part (that is, for some offices).

Not arguing Roger, but did one party perpetuate this fraud and did it impact results. 2008 was a Democratic landslide so unless I am missing something they would be the likely suspect, but I have zero information on this.
2008 was a landslide because America had been so badly abused and mis-used by the neo-con puppeteers who handled Georgie-boy that massive numbers of normally centrist-oriented people were turned off to the Republican Party. They would have voted for just about anybody so long as they weren’t on the Republican ticket. Too bad people don’t think, just as Adolf Hitler was fond of observing. The neo-cons are Big Government double-talkin’ New World Order Zionists who use Marxist techniques to pursue totalitarian aims and get away with it by simply wrapping it all up for public consumption in skin deep Evangelical and otherwise ‘socially conservative’ side-issue packaging. This sounds looney-tunes and paranoid until you rationally review the history of the passage of the Patriot Act. Barack Obama? Socialist. Mitt Romney? Neo-con. The time for new parties and real non-Rothschild puppet candidates arrived with the bullet that killed John Kennedy. If conservatives and centrists will not join forces to amend the U.S. Constitution so as to prohibit for all times the privatization of our national and sovereign monetary system, then the Red Left, sponsored behind the scenes by the Globalist Financial Elite, will continue to disembowel this country and it won’t matter one bit which party holds the increasingly symbolic office of the POTUS.
Mr. Hayden nailed it.
Well when you look around this year you can tell that the peolpe of this Republican Club have been working non stop for the benefit of the Residents of the Twp, because the signs are everywhere. Of course you have the Democrats coming out to places where there are Moran signs and remimnding homeowners/business owners that if they have a finacial benefit from the town they want to reconsider supporting the candidate for office that they support. Instead of allowing peolpe to vote with their conscience, our Democratic Committee wants to pressure the taxpayers of this town to side with them .. OR ELSE.That’s ok bc when you actually TALK to the peolpe with the blue signs who never requested them they tell you .. The sign is there bc it has to be .. my vote however will not be for Rick Taylor. The word is out, the signs made visable. Scott is in touch with the residents, now it is up to us to make sure that we have our voices heard and inform the 20+yr Twp Committee men . IT’S TIME TO PUT THE OLD BOYS NETWORK OUT OF BUSINESS.
This is closer to election fraud than voter fraud. How is Voter ID going to help a forgery example of a relative to a politician?
I think you guys were waiting to catch a crime, for your new laws. I am a Green Party Left Leaning Libertarian, so don’t assume when you begin the Ad Hominems on me.
Here are some Fallacious Arguments being used here:
Argument By Doggedness:
Appeal To Coincidence:
Argument By Repetition (Argument Ad Nauseam):
Argument By Half Truth (Suppressed Evidence):
Argument By Selective Observation:(also called cherry picking, the enumeration of favorable circumstances)
Argument By Selective Reading:
(This is a relative of Argument By Selective Observation)in that the arguer overlooks arguments that he does not like. It is also related to Straw Man (Fallacy Of Extension), in that the opponent’s argument is not being fairly represented.
Argument By Generalization:
(This is connected to the Fallacy Of The General Rule.)
Argument From Small Numbers:
Misunderstanding The Nature Of Statistics (Innumeracy):
…there are more, but if everyone removes the worthless traits of emotion and “guts” and replace it with math and logic, and ditch “common sense” (lazy thinking) with critical thought, we might solve this problem of which 80% is by absentee, and ID of no use.
Besides, voting doesn’t matter. Everyone knows this. If you want something done in government, you must write a check to a lobbyist to find out how much the bribe or “Donation” will cost to get what you want done. Voting is what they let us do so we will not notices Grant’s negative slur bribery and glad-handers being legitimized.
The sooner we make lobbying treason, the sooner we can get back to having legitimate political discourse. They left us scraps of nonsense to debate, while trade, war, diplomacy, infrastructure and education are backroom deals after the CEOs decide and have lobbyist run the laws over to lower to mid level employees of theirs or “Politicians” as the common man refers to them.
That rant felt pretty good. Sorry I did it all over your blog.
